The Autumn Energy Reset: Nine Days to Balance Your Chakras

Autumn is when the cozy vibes start rolling in! Leaves change color, the air turns crisp, and everything around us slows down. When a season changes, we notice all of that outside us right away. Not many of us know that our inner world changes with the changing seasons too.

Your energy shifts with the season. One week you feel light and sharp, and the next week you feel heavy, sleepy, and a little stuck. That shift has a reason, and our ancestors knew it well. They knew Navratri, which comes four times a year, once for every season, carries an immense amount of energy.

Each of the 4 Navratris lasts nine days. Those nine days prepare your body for the season that is coming. One big change all at once would shock your system, so the nine days ease you in gently. Your food gets lighter, your habits get steadier, and your energy feels cleaner and calmer with each passing day. By the time the new season arrives, your body already feels ready for it.

Navratri Comes Four Times a Year

Most people know one Navratri. I want you to meet all four, one for every season. Navratri is built right into the natural rhythm of the Earth, and it follows the big turning points of the solar and lunar calendar.

Let me start with the equinox, because it is the key to everything. Twice a year, in March and in September, day and night stand almost equal. The sun sits in perfect balance, and nature pauses for a moment before it tips into a new season. Two of the four Navratris sit right on these two equinoxes. The other two sit at the transitions into winter and into the monsoon.

Spring brings Chaitra Navratri, in March and April.

It comes with the March equinox, which is why some people also call it Vasanta Navratri. It leads up to Ram Navami and lands in harvest time, so I think of it as planting season for your energy. You set fresh intentions and give thanks for what you hope will grow.

Summer brings Ashadha Navratri, in June and July.

It begins just as the monsoon arrives. This is a secret one, called “Gupta”, which means private and inward. People welcome the rains, and the Goddess blesses the land and families with abundance. Some traditions link this one closely with Varahi Devi.

Autumn brings Sharad Navratri, in September and October.

It comes with the September equinox, when hot summer days melt slowly into crisp fall air. This is the big, bright, glowing one, with lamps in every window and the victory of good over evil at Dussehra.

Winter brings Magha Navratri, in January and February.

It begins as the cold season settles in. It is the second secret one, so it feels quiet and personal. People use it for meditation, self-discipline, and looking back at their own spiritual path.

Every Navratri lasts nine days, because seasons never change in a single day. The nine days mirror that slow, gentle passage from one season to the next. All four also share the same heart. Each one is a nine-day vow to line up our inner world while honoring the Goddess, and each one leads to the tenth day, Vijayadashami, the victory of awareness.

Each season has its own chakra practices, and I will share those in future posts. Today I want to spend all my time on autumn.

Why Autumn’s Navratri Feels So Powerful

Sharad Navratri lands right on the September equinox, when day and night stand almost equal. Nature itself is balanced at this moment, which makes it the perfect time to balance your chakras too. Summer’s heat and heaviness are fading, and these nine days help you let go of them and step into the cooler, calmer days ahead.

The story behind this festival adds even more power. Goddess Durga fights the demon Mahishasura, and on the tenth day, Vijayadashami, she wins. When I read this story, I see my own inner demons in it. Ego, laziness, fear, and doubt all take a turn on that battlefield. The Goddess shows up as your awareness waking up and saying enough!

Nine Days, Nine Goddesses, and Your Chakras

Each day of Sharad Navratri belongs to one form of Durga, and together they are called Navadurga. Each one lines up with an energy center in your body, so the nine days climb from your roots all the way to your crown. Come along with me! I will share the remedies for every chakra on our socials, so keep reading to meet the goddess behind each day.

Days 1 to 3: Building Your Foundation, Discipline, and Inner Fire

The first three days build your base. Think of it like warming up before a big workout, because you cannot rise until you are steady. Root, sacral, and solar plexus energy get strong and stable.

Day 1, Shailaputri and the Root Chakra
We start our journey right at the bottom with Goddess Shailaputri, the daughter of the mountains. She brings grounding and devotion. Your whole reset starts with a strong foundation, so plant your feet and feel safe.
The day says slow down and feel the floor under you.

Day 2, Brahmacharini and the Sacral Chakra
Goddess Brahmacharini teaches discipline, and discipline calms your emotions. Steady habits make steady feelings.
The day says pick one small routine and stick with it.

Day 3, Chandraghanta and the Solar Plexus Chakra
Goddess Chandraghanta carries a crescent moon on her forehead like a bell, inspiring bravery and quiet strength. She gives you courage and personal power. This is your inner fire day, so let it burn bright.
The day says do the thing you keep putting off.

Days 4 to 6: Opening the Heart, Voice, and Discernment

Now that you feel steady, you open up. You feel more, you speak more clearly, and you see more truthfully. This middle phase is where most people feel a real shift, and we work with the Heart, Throat, and Third Eye chakra.

Day 4, Kushmanda and the Heart Chakra
Goddess Kushmanda created the whole universe with her radiant smile! She fills our hearts with warmth and divine joy. She sparks intuitive creativity. Your heart opens a little wider with every breath.
The day says make something beautiful or hug someone you love.

Day 5, Skandamata and the Throat Chakra
Goddess Skandamata represents fierce, protective motherly love and clear communication. She is nurturing strength, who protects and guides. She helps you speak your truth with care.
The day says to say the kind and honest thing out loud.

Day 6, Katyayani and the Third Eye Chakra
Goddess Katyayani was born from the combined energy of all the gods to destroy darkness. She brings determination and sharp focus. Your inner vision gets clearer, and you see what you really want.
The day says sit quietly and ask your heart one big question.

Days 7 to 9: Confronting Fear, Purification, and Final Attainment

The last three days ask the most from you, and they give the most back. You face your fear, clear your mind, and move toward your higher self. All three days connect with the crown chakra, which takes us into deep spiritual transformation.

Day 7, Kalaratri and the Crown Chakra
Goddess Kalaratri is the fiercest form of Durga, destroying darkness, anxiety, and ignorance. Whatever has been blocking you gets cleared out today.
The day says to face the thing you have been avoiding.

Day 8, Mahagauri and Purification at the Crown
Goddess Mahagauri represents complete purity, peace, and deep healing. You feel lighter once you let go.
The day says forgive someone, even if that someone is you.

Day 9, Siddhidatri and Final Attainment at the Crown
Goddess Siddhidatri grants all spiritual gifts, wisdom, and cosmic fulfillment. Everything you built over the nine days comes together.
The day says to say thank you, because you earned this.

Day 10: Vijayadashami and the Victory of Light

Remember the story of Durga and Mahishasura? On the tenth day, she wins, and her victory is celebrated as Vijayadashami!

This sacred day symbolizes the ultimate victory of light over darkness, wisdom over ignorance, and higher awareness over ego. By aligning your energy centers with the forms of Navadurga over nine days of grounding, opening, and releasing, you welcome total renewal into your mind, body, and spirit for the brand new season ahead!
