This is Day 4 of my Autumn Energy Reset series, where we walk through all nine days of Sharad Navratri together, one goddess and one chakra at a time. Missed Day 3? Read it here. New here? Start with the big picture in my main Autumn Energy Reset blog.

Welcome to Day 4! Yesterday we lit your inner fire. Today that fire turns into warmth, and I am so happy to share this one with you. When you feel brave and strong, your heart finally feels safe enough to open. So let’s fill your whole day with love, joy, and light.

Meet Goddess Kushmanda: The Creator of the Universe

Day 4 belongs to Goddess Kushmanda, the fourth form of Navadurga. Her name carries a sweet story. Ku means little, ushma means warmth, and anda means cosmic egg. So her name tells us that she created the whole universe with a little bit of warmth and a gentle smile.

The old stories say that the universe was once full of darkness, with no light and no life. Then Goddess Kushmanda smiled, and that smile created the cosmos. She is said to live in the core of the Sun, and her glow gives the world its light and energy.

Isn’t that beautiful? Her smile started everything.

Look at how she appears. She has eight arms, and she rides a lion. In her hands she holds a water pot, a bow, an arrow, a lotus, a pot of nectar, a discus, a mace, and a string of prayer beads. Each one shows a gift she shares with her devotees, from health and strength to wisdom and joy.

Picture a flower opening slowly toward the morning sun. It does not force its petals open. It simply feels the warmth and blooms. That is the energy Kushmanda brings into your life today. She teaches us that love and joy grow best in warmth, and that one gentle smile can change the whole mood of a day.

The Heart Chakra Connection

Kushmanda connects with the Heart Chakra, called Anahata. It sits in the center of your chest, and it holds your love, your compassion, your joy, and the way you connect with other people and with yourself. Its element is air, so when it is balanced, your heart feels light, open, and free.

In Vedic astrology, the Heart Chakra links with the Moon. The Moon is the planet of emotions, nurturing, comfort, and the gentle mind. A strong Moon helps you feel deeply, care for others, and find peace within yourself. So when Kushmanda blesses your heart center, she also wakes up your tenderness and your ability to give and receive love with ease.

Your Heart Chakra Healing Practices

These practices are soft, sweet, and joyful, just like this chakra. Try one at a time, or stack a few into one loving ritual. Go gently, and if anything feels uncomfortable, ease off and breathe normally.

Breathe into your heart

Sit comfortably and rest both hands in the center of your chest. Breathe in slowly through your nose and feel your chest gently rise under your hands. Breathe out softly through your mouth. Keep going for about 2 to 5 minutes, and let your shoulders relax.

Smile like Kushmanda

Her smile created the universe, so let yours do some magic too. Sit quietly and let a soft, gentle smile spread across your face, even if you do not feel like it at first. Stay with that smile for a minute and notice how your heart feels.

Glow green

Close your eyes and picture a soft, emerald green light glowing in the center of your chest. See it growing warmer and wider with every breath, until it fills your whole body with calm and love. Stay with that glow for 2 to 5 minutes.

Chant the heart sound

Take a deep breath and chant “Yam”, the seed sound of the Heart Chakra. Let it hum softly from the center of your chest, and repeat it for a few minutes. Feel the vibration open your heart like a gentle breeze.

Speak a loving affirmation

Place a hand on your heart and say, “I give love. I receive love. My heart is open.” Say it slowly, and let each word land.

Open your arms like a flower

Stand tall and breathe in as you open your arms wide, like a flower blooming in the sun. Breathe out and bring your hands back to your heart. Repeat this slowly five times. A gentle backbend, like Cobra Pose, can feel lovely too. Go only as far as feels comfortable.

Share love and make something beautiful

This chakra loves connection and creativity, so give your heart a little action. Hug someone you love, send a kind message, or cook a meal with care. You can also paint, sing, or arrange flowers, because Kushmanda is the goddess of creation, after all.

Eat fresh, green foods

Choose simple, fresh meals today. Leafy greens, cucumber, green apples, and fresh mint match this chakra’s green color and its light, airy nature. If you are fasting for Navratri, keep your food light, sattvic, and gentle on your body.

Make it a daily habit

You can repeat this loving ritual any day of Navratri. Kushmanda’s lesson is simple. Smile, share a little warmth, and your heart will keep opening like a flower.

The Divine Mantra

In the morning and evening, light a simple lamp and sit comfortably for a few quiet moments. Set an intention to open your heart with kindness and trust. Now connect with the divine grace of Goddess Kushmanda by chanting or listening to her sacred mantra three times, or as many times as feels good, with a thankful heart.

Om Devi Kushmandayai Namah

Feel the sound vibration glowing in the center of your chest, melting away heaviness and bringing in warmth and joy. Sit quietly for a moment and notice how your body feels.

What Comes Next

Now that your heart is open, it is time to find your voice! Tomorrow we meet Goddess Skandamata, who brings the strength of a loving mother and the power of clear, kind words. She connects with the Throat Chakra, the home of your voice and your truth, and she belongs to Mercury in Vedic astrology. Come back for Day 5!
