This is Day 6 of my Autumn Energy Reset series, where we walk through all nine days of Sharad Navratri together, one goddess and one chakra at a time. Missed Day 5? Read it here. New here? Start with the big picture in my main Autumn Energy Reset blog.
Day 6 is here, and today we turn the volume down and the clarity up! Over the last few days you grounded yourself, found your flow, lit your fire, opened your heart, and raised your voice. Now it is time to look inward and see what all that energy is pointing toward. So find a cozy spot, take a slow breath, and let’s meet today’s goddess.
Meet Goddess Katyayani: The Warrior Born of Light
Day 6 belongs to Goddess Katyayani, the sixth form of Navadurga. Her name comes from a wise sage named Katyayana. He prayed for years to have the Goddess as his own daughter, and she answered his devotion by taking birth in his home. That is how she became known as Katyayani.
The old stories say the demon Mahishasura had grown so powerful that nobody could stop him. The gods gathered, and their combined energy rose up as a blazing light that took the form of a radiant goddess. That goddess was Katyayani. With her courage and her sword, she faced the demon and won, which is the very story we celebrate on the tenth day.
Her form carries a lot of meaning. She has four arms, and she rides a lion. In one hand she holds a sword, and in another she holds a lotus. Her other two hands show the gestures of blessing and fearlessness, as if she is telling you that you are safe and you are seen. Sharp and soft, she carries both.
Imagine driving along a mountain road wrapped in thick fog. Your headlights cannot clear the whole mountain, yet they show you the next stretch of road, and that is enough to keep going. That is the gift Katyayani brings you today. Her sword cuts through confusion, so you can see your next step clearly and walk it with confidence.
The Third Eye Connection
Katyayani connects with the Third Eye Chakra, called Ajna. It sits between your eyebrows, and it holds your intuition, your focus, your imagination, and your inner wisdom. When it is balanced, you trust your gut, think clearly, and see the bigger picture without getting lost in the noise.
In Vedic astrology, the Third Eye Chakra links with Saturn. Saturn is the planet of patience, discipline, and wisdom that grows with time. A strong Saturn helps you stay focused on what truly matters and look at life with a calm, steady mind. So when Katyayani blesses your third eye, she also gives you the patience to wait for clarity and the determination to act on it.
Your Third Eye Chakra Healing Practices
These practices are quiet, simple, and centering, just like this chakra. Choose the ones that feel right, or combine a few into a peaceful evening ritual. Take it easy, and if something feels uncomfortable, stop and return to your natural breathing.
Gaze at a candle flame
Place a candle on a stable surface, away from anything that can burn. Sit comfortably and look softly at the flame for one or two minutes without straining your eyes. Then close your eyes and notice the glow that stays behind your eyelids. This is a lovely way to train your focus.
Breathe to the space between your brows
Sit tall and rest your attention on the point between your eyebrows. Breathe slowly and imagine each inhale gathering a little light there. Keep going for about 2 to 5 minutes, and let your face and forehead stay soft.
Chant the third eye sound
Take a deep breath and chant “Om“, the seed sound of the Third Eye Chakra. Let the sound hum gently behind your forehead, and repeat it for a few minutes. Notice how the mind settles as the sound fades.
Glow in indigo
Close your eyes and imagine a deep indigo light shining between your eyebrows, like the sky just after sunset. With every breath, let that color grow brighter and clearer. Rest in that glow for 2 to 5 minutes.
Speak your affirmation
Place your fingertips lightly between your eyebrows and say, “I trust my inner wisdom. I see clearly.” Say it slowly and let the words sink in.
Ask one big question
Sit quietly with a notebook and ask yourself one question that matters, like “What do I really want right now?” Write down the first answer that comes, even if it surprises you. Your intuition often speaks softly and quickly, so keep your pen moving.
Take a phone-free pause
Focus grows when distractions shrink. Put your phone in another room for 15 to 30 minutes and do one single thing, such as reading, cooking, or sitting in silence. Notice how much clearer your mind feels afterward.
Add purple foods
Fresh grapes, blueberries, plums, and purple cabbage match this chakra’s deep indigo color and feel refreshing today. If you are fasting for Navratri, keep your food light, sattvic, and gentle, and follow what suits your tradition.
Carry It With You
You can return to this quiet ritual any day of Navratri. Katyayani’s lesson is simple to remember. When life feels foggy, slow down, look inward, and take the next clear step.
The Divine Mantra
Choose a calm moment in the morning or evening, and light a small lamp if you like. Sit comfortably and take a few slow breaths. Then call on Goddess Katyayani by chanting or listening to her mantra three times, or as many times as feels right, with a grateful heart.
Om Devi Katyayanyai Namah
Feel the sound settle between your eyebrows, clearing away doubt and sharpening your inner vision. Rest for a moment and notice what feels clearer.
What Awaits on Day 7
Your vision is clear, so now we get ready to face what has been holding you back! Tomorrow we meet Goddess Kalaratri, the fiercest form of Durga, who destroys fear and ignorance. She connects with the Crown Chakra, the home of your highest awareness, and she belongs to Jupiter in Vedic astrology. See you on Day 7!
